You can now download a PDF of your team’s schedule directly from the team page — just look for the action button

The schedule PDF opens in a new browser tab

Performance Improvements

Locking a season is now significantly faster, especially for large leagues with many shooters and scores

League pages should load faster too

Password Reset Improvements

If you use a password manager (a tool that remembers your passwords for you), it should now work more reliably on the password reset page

Your password manager should correctly recognize and save your new password after a reset

Home Page

Fixed an issue with the video on the home page not displaying correctly in some browsers

Behind the Scenes

Moved to a modern deployment pipeline, lowering the risk of downtime and other issues

New “inactive” status for shooters. If a shooter will no longer be participating in the league going forward, an officer or captain can mark that shooter as inactive. Once a shooter is marked inactive their name will no longer appear on the roster for future matches, and they will not be in the list of available shooters when selecting your roster for future seasons. Update a shooter’s active/inactive status from the action button on their shooter page.

Match Signatures are now “e-signatures.” Rather than capturing an image of an actual signature, we will now ask the user to type their name and attest that the data on the match has been reviewed and is accurate. This data along with the logged-in user and a time-stamp are captured for reference. Match PDFs will now show the e-signature details when an e-signature is present and will continue to show the old-style signature for matches where that was captured.

The Shooter page now shows a season dropdown with each season the shooter has participated in, making it easy to view a shooter’s stats for other seasons.

Minor Changes

Weekly Shooter and League/Team stats are now exported separately on the league page. This should improve performance and share-ability.

Single team leagues can choose whether matches validate team size or not. I.e. if you have fewer shooter than “make the team” one week, you can choose whether you apply dummy scores, or skip validation entirely. Previously, a single team league would either have to reduce the team size, or add dummy score support.

The user that locks a match is logged automatically and is displayed on the match PDF for auditability and transparency.

Bugs Fixed

File names for the Weekly Stats Exports had been off by 1 in terms of the week number. This has been fixed.

CSV Export for team names with special characters (e.g. &, ‘, etc) now works correctly.

This release focused on Data Export and Weekly Stats, specifically: introducing new stats, including more details in the PDF export, supporting export to CSV, and also supporting the export of Roster details (for those with appropriate privileges).

New Features & UX Improvements

Users with export privileges can now export the League’s weekly stats to CSV in addition to PDF

The Weekly stats PDF now includes the match PDFs for that week - so each match in the league can be easily sent out in one document.

Each Shooter’s top score to-date is now included as a weekly stat. This list is sortable in the site, and is also included in both the PDF and CSV exports.

League/Team officers can now export the contact details for their Division/Team rosters.

When managing Schedule (adding or deleting matches), the user is brought directly back to the schedule tab - simplifying the scheduling experience.

Minor Change in “Contacting us”

Over the last year or so, the amount of spam email I’ve received through the page’s contact form has grown dramatically to dozens a day. At the same time the sight has improved and the number of questions I receive from users has dropped to almost none - just 1 in the last 4 months.

For this reason, I’ve decided to remove the “contact” form from BullseyeTracker. Instead, the contact page now directs users to email their team captains or league officers for support or questions. Those folks can then reach out to me directly.

Of course I’m still available directly via email and that email address is still listed in the site’s Privacy Policy.

Bugs Fixed

The bug preventing new seasons from being created when not copying the previous season’s schedule has been resolved.

Three Primary features were added in this release:

The ability for all users to sort the Weekly Stats tables in ascending/descending order for pretty much any header in: Weekly 300, Handicaps, and Individual Standings.

When creating a new season, the user can choose to copy the schedule from the previous season. This way they can simply edit matches as needed (rather than create the whole schedule from scratch)

The ability for users with appropriate permissions to Delete matches. This comes in handy when setting up a new season and matches were created erroneously.

Two minor bug fixes

Bugs Fixed

Fixed: In some cases users who are league administrators could get 404 errors when navigating to a team from their home page.

Fixed: When adding shooters to a team’s roster, the list of shooters could exceed the height of the window. If this happened, the list would not scroll, so shooters “below the fold” would not be selectable without searching for them directly.

Release 1.1.36 fixes a couple minor bugs, improves the user experience, and brings in one new feature for leagues using the Drop Point Handicap system.

New Feature

Leagues using the drop point handicap system can now choose to have all shooters start with the same default average at the start of each season. When creating the season, simply toggle on “Reset End of Season Averages.”

This toggle will only impact how BullseyeTracker interprets shooters’ averages for the purpose their handicaps. When navigating to previous seasons, each shooters’ average will be accurately reflected for that season.

Minor Enhancements

Removed the “My Scores” and “My Dashboard” tabs from the team page.

These details are already found on every competitor’s stats page so they’re redundant here.

Click on competitor’s name from team or weekly stats pages to get to a competitors stats page.

Bugs Fixed

Users with the appropriate privileges couldn’t lock a season if the season end date was in the future (even if all matches were locked). Now the user can lock the season but is presented with a warning.

League Administrators (defined on the league settings page) were brought to the last season they were present on the roster when navigating to the league from their home page. League Admins will now be brought to the league’s latest season, regardless of when they were last on the roster.

Improved User Experience with Matches, Including an important improvement for Postal Leagues.

This release also includes a quick follow-up to the self service features in release 34.

New Feature

Opposing Team Scores Can Be Hidden

For Postal leagues whose teams enter scores throughout the week, there was an incentive to wait for the other team to enter their scores so you’d know what you need to shoot for.

Now leagues have the option to hide opposing teams scores, eliminating any advantage gained from waiting for the other team to enter their scores.

In unlocked matches, users can only see scores captured for their own team.

Scores for other teams will become visible to all shooters in the league once the match is locked.

If you’d like this option turned on for your league, please reach out!

Minor Enhancements

League Admins can now Edit the officers associated with a season (in addition to Adding them)

The match page will now opens to your team’s tab by default (if your team is in the match)

The Division Officer list is hidden from the user if:

The league only has one division

The league has more than one division, but no division officers have been assigned and the user does not have permission to create division officers

Bugs Fixed

When locking a match, if the “lock” button was double clicked by a league officer, the match scores and signatures would be cleared out and the match would have to be re-signed and locked by both captains.

With this release I’ve added some long needed self-service functionality for leagues and added new capabilities around how you delegate “administrative” access to folks in your leagues and to me (for support, etc).

Sorry in advance for the book here, but there’s a lot of new stuff to talk about.

As you use the new features, please reach out with any feedback you have

New Features

Self Service Management

Two new self service capabilities were added as part of this release: Creating a new season, and assigning league officers to your seasons.

This is by no means the final version of these features, but they’re miles ahead of where we were at the start of this season. You can expect both significant improvements (like the ability to edit seasons and officers) and minor improvements (like hiding the division officer list if your league doesn’t have divisions) in the upcoming releases.

Setup your next season

In order to set up a new season, a user with the appropriate privileges can click on the “Create New Season” option in the action menu of the League page which will bring the user to the New Season wizard.

The New Season wizard will be pre-populated with most of the details from your most recent season (to reduce the amount of data entry you have to do).

First, Pick a start and end date for your season. The start date should fall before your first match, and the end date should fall after your last match of the new season.

Then, for each Division in your league, complete the steps below.

If nothing has changed in your league from season to season, then the only thing you’ll need to do will be to choose the teams for each Division. Hover over the question marks next to fields to learn more about what they do (if you’re on a mobile device or tablet you can tap on them).

The General Details section captures the primary details around how your league works. You’ll define things like the teams in the division, the number of courses of fire shot in matches, how many scores count for a match, etc.

The Handicaps section is where you’ll define whether this division will use handicaps, and, if it does, how they’re calculated.

Changing the value of the “Choose a Handicap Style” dropdown will change the fields that are displayed in order to accommodate the different handicap systems supported by BullseyeTracker.

The Dummy Scores section is where you’ll capture if and how the division handles dummy scores (when one team has less than the minimum number of shooters at a match).

Assign league officers

League, Division, and Team Officers have elevated Privileges within the league. As an example captains can sign off and lock matches while shooters can’t, the league Statistician can unlock matches while captains can’t, etc.

To assign league officers to your new season (or existing season), navigate to the League Officers tab on the League Page of the Season you want to add an officer to (in the case of Division Officers for leagues with more than one division, ensure you’re on the league page for that Division).

Click the blue “Add Officer” button in the appropriate section.

On the Manage Officer page you’ll be prompted to choose who the officer will be, their permissions, and their title. In the case of Team-level officers, you’ll also be asked to select the team they’re an officer of.

The permission list is meant to be as self explanatory as possible, but I will be cleaning these up and adding much more clarity around what they mean in future releases. In the mean time just reach out with any questions.

Hovering over the question icon will provide more details about each field (if you’re on mobile or tablet, just tap on them).

Administrative Access

There have been two changes to how administrative access to Leagues is handled. Each change is reflected in a new field in your league settings page:

First, leagues can now define their “BullseyeTracker Administrators.” These folks from your league are responsible for (or able to) do basically anything they need to for the league: Assign officer roles to folks in the league, schedule matches, etc – including the new ability to set up and configure new seasons. Basically these folks will be able to configure all the things that will make BullseyeTracker work the way your league works.

I’ve gone ahead and defaulted this field to the person I’ve been working closest with in each league. I’d encourage every league to add at least one other person as a backup administrator as well.

Second, prior to this release, in order for me to help a league set things up or debug issues I’d have to add myself to one of the league’s teams and “promote” myself to an officer of the league. This was time consuming for me, and weird for you.

With this release, I’ve added a simple toggle on the League Settings page called “Staff Access” which, when enabled, provides the BullseyeTracker Staff (just me) access to the league – without having to be a member of the league.

In the future if you reach out with a question or need some help, I may ask you to enable staff access. Once you do, I should have everything I need to help you out! After I’m done, you can just turn off staff access and I’ll no longer have access to your league.

Minor Enhancements

Breadcrumb Navigation has been added to the League Settings Page

For non-postal leagues, the Match PDF is available from the action menu of the match. If your team wants to “watch” the progress as scores are entered during the match, they can open this PDF and refresh periodically.

Bugs Fixed

Leagues that used handicaps saw an internal server error when attempting to edit shooters’ details.

Captains in Postal Leagues were prevented from signing off on matches if the opposing team hadn’t entered enough scores yet.

The PDF view of the match displayed 3 decimal places for leagues which do not use the Drop Point System for Handicaps.

This release adds a couple new features which improve the experience for Postal Leagues and one which adds flexibility in calculating averages.

New Features

When calculating averages for weekly individual stats and end of season awards, Leagues can now optionally drop a shooter’s lowest n scores.

Leagues can provide BullseyeTracker Staff access to their league to improve support/help experience.

More tightly controlled match authorization

roles can be configured to only have ability to update their team’s scores - rather than the scores of both teams in a match.

Signatures can be configured at the division level to represent either sign-off on the whole match, or simply sign-off on their team’s scores.

Minor Enhancements

When scores need to be re-calculated on a match, they are automatically set to “0 (0)” without having to refresh the match page.

Bug Fixes

Typo in the warning banner on the League Page: “Team standings are temporarily inaccurate….”

Dummy score tooltips were showing the wrong team in some cases.

Bugs and minor UX changes

Bug Fixes

Recently squashed bugs:

Exporting Scores to CSV was broken for single-team leagues.

Dropdown Menus were not working properly on iOS

Sub Total was blank in unlocked matches

UX changes

Hide Sub-Total when it’s always the same as either the raw score or the total score

For Single-Team Leagues that use handicaps, when viewing match on mobile hide the Handicap Total instead of the Raw Score (to avoid confusion on why scores don’t add up to total)
